A New Twist on a Hand-Stitched Tradition

one design, “The Sounders”

As one of the Midwest’s most cuddly traditions, quilts have a special place in our hearts. Sioux City Art Center has decided to shake things up with a new art project – featuring art inspired by traditional quilt designs! City Art Quilts combines the quilting tradition of our area with a contemporary means of art, creating a new and very interesting project. Local artists were very creative with their designs, which can be viewed here.

Those of us here at the Chamber are particularly excited about it! It’s great to see new kinds of artwork decorating the city, and especially when local artists are contributing. The Siouxland Chamber of Commerce is proud to boast its own underwritten quilt, pictured here.

(Isn’t it pretty?)

Be on the lookout for these works of art as they go up on display all over Sioux City this summer.
