With the Holiday and winter season approaching, cold weather is among us. The Sioux City Explorers want to help keep everyone warm this winter by hosting their first annual “Spread the Warmth Mitten and Hat Drive”.
All donation items received by the X’s will be provided to the Salvation Army of Siouxland and distributed in conjunction with their annual Coats for Kids campaign.
To help spread the warmth, please stop by the Explorers’ winter offices located at 600 Stevens Port Drive, Ste 105 in Dakota Dunes, SD (between Tyson Foods Corporate office and Oral Surgery Associates) and donate a pair of mittens or a stocking hat and receive a pair of complimentary tickets for any 2014 Sioux City Explorers home game during the month of May.
“We are so excited once again that the Sioux City Explorers have partnered with the Salvation Army of Siouxland to help boys and girls in need this Holiday Season. The Explorers glove and hat drive will be a home run in making Christmas bright for many children throughout Siouxland,” comments The Salvation Army Corps officer Capt. Von R. Vandiver.
Donations will be accepted through Wednesday, December 18th. Help the Sioux City Explorers Spread the Warmth this season and keep Siouxland children warm, while also receiving your opportunity to enjoy the warmth of the summer at Lewis & Clark Park.
Special thanks to the Explorers and Distinctive Gourmet for hosting a superb “Chamber Business After Hours”. We also want to thank the local businesses that purchased a half inning sponsorship and provided tickets to employees, family, friends and others. Finally, we are indebted to the nine (9) people who spent one inning in the Community Leaders’ Dunk Tank, as well as the 18 people who initially agreed to place their name on the dunk tank ballot. You were all good sports about this and our collective efforts helped raise money for the United Way of Siouxland in a fun and unique way.
As the Sioux City Explorers hit their offseason, The X’s are working towards their 2011 season. With the holiday season coming about, the X’s staff and organization are launching their first ever, “Tickets for Turkey” promotion apart of the Season of Giving.
The goal is to be inspired by community, while giving proper inspiration right back to the community and those in need. For every ticket package sold for the 2011 season, the Explorer’s will donate a turkey to local Goodwill Industries Wall Street Mission, and Salvation Army’s for families in need during this upcoming holiday season.
“This is a great way to kick off our season of giving campaign as we know this will directly benefit members of our community in need during the holiday season,” stated Explorers General Manager, Shane Tritz.
To purchase your ticket package and help support the 1st Annual “Tickets for Turkey” promotion, simply call the Explorers at (712) 277-WINS (9467) or stop by our off-season office located at 600 Stevens Port Drive, Suite #112, Dakota Dunes, SD 57049 by November 19th, 2010, as turkeys will be delivered to The Salvation Army and Goodwill Industries Wall Street Mission on November 22nd.
This is a great way to give back to our community while setting yourself up for a summer of fun watching the Sioux City Explorer’s!
